Art on Display: A beautiful day in our neighborhood by Natasha Papousek

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood is an art show featuring painted paper collage landscapes and portraits of wildlife from Southern California. The pieces aim to capture the essence of the local wildlife and landscapes that make our region so unique.

Deeply influenced by Matisse and Monet, Natasha loves bright colors and seeks to express a sense of joie de vivre in all of her pieces. Her process is unusual: after choosing a reference photo and creating an underpainting, she collects paper – old maps, sheet music, tourist literature, and junk mail, then paints and prints layers of color and patterns on top. Then she rips them up in a sort of mosaic process to form the “brushstrokes” for her paintings. Natasha’s work is a testimony to the enduring power of Nature.
