Additionally, Oceanside Public Library is calling all history buffs to help find the pier in the paper at the OCR Corrections Workshop on Saturday, August 24 at 10 a.m. in the Civic Center Library Foundation Room, 330 N Coast Hwy. Help preserve and make Oceanside’s unique history discoverable. At this workshop, participants will learn how to correct Optical Character Recognition (OCR) errors in historic newspapers, such as the Oceanside Blade-Tribune and the Oceanside Citizen, which have been digitized on the California Digital Newspaper Collection website, using Library laptops or their own. The workshop will focus on articles about the pier and participants can continue making corrections independently.
