Paris Hilton is currently promoting her show Paris in Love, which airs on Peacock, and chronicles her self-proclaimed “Mom Era”…and what an era it is.
Just over two years ago, in November 2021, she married venture capitalist Carter Reum, and quickly welcomed son Phoenix (born in January 2023) and daughter London (whose birth was announced at Thanksgiving, both via surrogate.
It’s certainly a different Paris than OG fans from the 90s and ‘00s remember; nights out with pals like Britney Spears and the Greek shipping heir boyfriend of the month are now replaced by nights in with a nanny and Carter, aside from the occasional work trip. And Millennial and Gen-X moms are totally here for it. Here’s why:
She Seems Grateful
Paris is 42 and a new mom. Being an older moms can be a tougher route to just to have the baby, and once they’re here, there’s really nowhere else you’d rather be because you’ve been there and done that—and that’s especially true for Paris.
She’s Still Paris
It’s easy to get lost in motherhood. You turn one day while you’re cleaning poop off the floor and think, what just happened? Paris shows that she’s still the glam queen—even her Walmart cookware line is pink, which she showcases on social while decorating a cake with none other than Demi Lovato. Instead of twinning with The Simple Life co-star Nicole Richie, she’s matching Halloween costumes and Christmas PJs with Phoenix and Carter—loves it.
She’s All About Protecting Her Peace
Boundaries as a mom are huge. In January, she introduced son Phoenix to her sister Nicky Hilton over Facetime, and at Thanksgiving, Paris walked her daughter London into the room packed with family to utter shock.
For a girl who was first exposed in the most public way by a sex tape as a teenager, and then continuously used as tabloid fodder (even as she went to jail, got out for medical reasons, and was sent back to prison, crying), her making her privacy paramount feels like a major win.
She’s Showing Her Kids What Hard Work Looks Like…
Paris is a TV star, podcaster, singer and successful DJ. But do you know about her dozens of perfumes, her billion-dollar production company called 11:11 Media, licensing and NFT deals, and Netflix cooking show?
Most impressive: Her campaign to get a bipartisan bill aimed at stopping child abuse at residential centered for troubled teens—where she has shared she suffered terribly, experiencing sexual, verbal and emotional abuse. This is a true working mom that is still doing her thing, and advocating for others at the same time.
…But She’s Open About Having Help
So many celebrities seem to hide their help, acting as if they can work, travel, have a picture perfect home and a family, easily. But Paris’ nanny is front and center on her show, and we appreciate the candor. Even as she was mocked for not knowing how to change Phoenix’s diaper (or getting comments about the baby’s head size), she remains generously open with fans.
She’s Healing Our Own Childhood
For those of us who watched Paris out gallivanting in her 20s with *all the wrong guys* (read: Stavros Niarchos, Paris Latsis, Nick Carter…), spend time in jail for a drug charge, and go through the majority of her 30s working 24/7 while looking for love…to see her find her family in her 40s makes us so genuinely happy for her. She’s done it, we’ve done it, we all of some battle scars, but we’re here. As she quoted Miley Cyrus on her TikTok account, “I know I used to be crazy; that’s because I used to be young.”
